When Tookie was feeling playful, he would lie in his dog house, reach out, grab the rope, hold on, and, I swear, smile. That would absolutely enrage the monkey. He’d first grab onto the rope and try to pull it out of Tookie’s paws, but he was never strong enough. Then he’d elbow his way into Tookie’s doghouse, wedge himself between Tookie and the back wall, and push with his legs for all he was worth. But, while he may have been mean, he just didn’t have muscle enough to budge Tookie.
You might think about asking your heat pump contractor if he has any references he can show you. Many companies may be taken aback by that question, but that’s okay. It isn’t an immediate disqualifier, but let’s face it: it’s nice when a company can back up their claims with satisfied customers. If you walk into an office and see several framed letters of customers beaming about the service they received, you know that you’ve found a company that cares. A company that understands that doing a job right is the important part.
This looks like a huge refrigerator repair job, but it’s usually a very minor problem. If you find water leaking out of your fridge, this means that something’s wrong with its self-defrosting system. Probably it’s just clogged and this is not allowing it to drain properly. Turn off your fridge, locate the drainage system and give it a good cleaning with baking soda and water. That should clear up the problem.
Find a heat pump contractor that’s willing to work with you. Some service companies have an one-size fits all mentality. You really don’t want to find yourself dealing with companies that think they are the Wal-Mart of the HVAC system. Find a company that will give you individual attention and will recommend the right pump for your needs. There may be several brands and models that will fit your particular system. But there are probably only a couple that will give you the efficiency and performance you really want.
When you start taking things out, you have two options. If you have a separate freezer that is still functioning, try to freeze as much of your food as possible. Most food will keep this way without losing too much of its flavor. Even if it does lose some flavor, that is better than letting it go bad. Anything that you cannot freeze, you should try to eat. Things like milk will not last long without being cold, so you should plan your next meal to use up as much perishable food as possible.
If after 6 hours and the fridge is still not cooling, then you have to check if the fan is running. If it is running just fine, next to check are the condenser coils. Most condenser coils are located at the back of the fridge. You have to clean the condenser coils. First remove the cover, and then you may proceed to vacuuming the dirt and dust. It helps if you have a stiff brush to loosen the dust particles. In the even that the dirt and dust are already hardened or greasy, then you need to wash it with water and soap.
If your fridge is broken, you will likely need to move it either so you can fix it yourself or take it to a repair shop. When moving a fridge, there are some precautions you should take to prevent it from getting broken further. Never try to move it by yourself, find an assistant with a strong arm and good back. Tipping the machine can also be dangerous because it can cause severe injuries if it falls on you. Never carry a fridge down or up staircases without at least two able bodied people.
